Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership

Posted by: Shawn Bultsma

If you are a school counselor or other school professional looking to establish how your students are different as a result of your work with them, the Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership (CESCaL) is for you!  This resource has been provided by counselor educator and national presenter, Trish Hatch.

The mission provided at this resource site states:

The Center’s mission is to promote excellence in the field of school counseling and to assist school counselors, their site and central office administrators as they design, implement and evaluate their school counseling programs. CESCaL will provide training by national leaders in school counseling, on-line support for creating school counseling programs and consultation from state and national leaders in school counseling and administration with experience in implementing ASCA National Model® school counseling programs.

School counselors and other interested professionals have access to helpful resources used to create guidance lesson planspre- and post-tests, action plans, and results reports.  Users are also invited to share and review results reports, flashlight PowerPoints that emphasize doing on thing well, and school board PowerPoint presentations.

Ideas for performance standards, hiring, and evaluations are also provided.  There is also an Administrator Support Section that provides great resources and information to share with school administrators in advocating for school counseling.  I also appreciate that there is a fairly hefty section that supports work with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Nation Model.

You will note that access to some of the files requires you to create a login, but there are no fees, only a major disclaimer that indicates anything submitted by you will be freely distributed.
